My very own invisibility cloak

The reason behind why I blog is not to whine about life's difficulties (well, partly) but to keep myself sane and just to remind myself every now and then that I'm no longer a kid.. A reality check for me...
I just needed something to allow me to freely write my thoughts without much judgement.
This is my personal haven, so to speak. I stopped writing entries on my Friendster account because I do not want people to read them. Weird, isn't it? I can't explain it but I feel that I am baring too much of myself when I blog (in friendster). I mean, you write because you want people to know you, to let them know how you really feel and yet, here I am, trying to conceal my identity in this blog..
Anyways, I hope that whoever reads this blog be reminded that there will always be a part of us that needs to stay hidden.. A part of us that need not be known to people .. a part of us that wishes hard to be invisible even just for a day.....

And so I blog because I want to stay hidden... to be anonymous even just
on this blog.

War of the Emoticons

2007....

It’s been over a year since that he-who-must-not-be-named moved away for work. At first, it was just another buddy moving away and I was fine with that. I never thought that he’d still stick around.

A little over a year ago, yahoo messenger, chikka and the cellular phone were the greatest technological break-through for me (during those black out days of mine). In an instant click and a touch of a button, you get to send and hopefully (in return), receive messages. I was in pure awe of this advancement!

Back then, the days were as easy as a breeze because we got to update each other on a daily basis. Days are not complete if, I have not received YM / chikka messages from that person. We bonded and even had a little of our own bickering moments in our virtual haven. We discovered the pleasures of sending photos of what things / places / people fascinated us. We laughed our hearts out by using the “Emoticons” feature and ultimately, learned how to outdo and outsmart each other by sending tricky and/or intimidating Emoticons. We do this every so often that we decided to call it “War of the Emoticons”. This inane past time could go on for hours. No words, no messages just plain and simple emoticons sent back and forth. The more intimidating, the better your score is and the first one to stop would be the sore loser for the day. The simple pleasures of our virtual paradise..

Fast forward 2008..
Sadly, all good things must come to an end!
Sad but true..

25

Today (supposedly on the 16th) is a very special day. i'm happy that a lot of people remembered me this day. It's really not a big deal but i just love the thought of people rushing to greet you. People, sumptuous food, gifts .. who can ever resist?

Another milestone for me.
Another year added.
Another struggle.
Another fun-filled ride!

XOXO,
Lucia
